Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about Riot ID formatting, availability checks, and how this app works.

What is a Riot ID?

A Riot ID is the public name format used across Riot games. It combines a game name and a tagline, such as PlayerName#EUW.

How should I format my Riot ID in this tool?

Enter your game name and tagline in separate fields, or paste the full value in the format GameName#TAG. The tool will split it automatically.

What does "taken" or "available" mean?

Taken means an account already exists for that exact Riot ID. Available means no account was found for that exact combination at lookup time.

Why did my lookup fail?

Lookups can fail because of temporary Riot API outages, network issues, or API rate limits. Try again in a moment if you see an error.

Does this app store my lookup history?

Yes. Your lookup history is saved in your browser local storage so you can reopen it later. It is not required to create an account to use this app.

Is RiotID Lookup affiliated with Riot Games?

No. This project is not endorsed by Riot Games and does not represent Riot Games. Riot Games and related marks belong to Riot Games, Inc.
